Job Overview: A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with contractual and legal standards. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects. Monitor project costs and track variations throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new projects. Manage tendering processes, including preparing and evaluating bids. Negotiate contracts and procurement of materials and services. Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and quality standards. Perform risk, value management, and cost control. Prepare progress reports and financial statements. Handle project valuations, payments, and final accounts. Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Required Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (varies by role level). Experience in construction or infrastructure projects. Professional certification (e.g., membership in recognized bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors) is an advantage. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Cost estimation and financial management expertise. Knowledge of construction methods and materials. Contract management and negotiation skills. Proficiency in software such as MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying tools (e.g., CostX). Attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving and decision-making ability. Time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
