Job Description
Job Overview:
The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF) is a registered non-profit organisation focused on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training, and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Research Nurse to join the REACH Programme, which supports the phased public-sector rollout of long-acting HIV prevention (lenacapavir).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide youth-friendly, integrated sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV prevention services within REACH delivery platforms (facility, community, and mobile). Oversee recruitment, screening, and enrolment of eligible participants. Manage participant care and follow-up. Conduct HIV testing and counselling. Initiate and manage oral PrEP and long-acting injectable PrEP. Perform clinical assessments and oversee quality control processes. Provide STI screening and treatment. Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical requirements. Ensure accurate data capture and maintain high data quality. Supervise and support junior staff. Compile programme reports and participate in quality improvement activities.

Required Qualifications:
Nursing Diploma or Degree with active South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration as a Registered Nurse, NIMART trained, Sexual and reproductive health certificate, Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification nursing experience, Experience working with adolescents and young people, Fluency in English and isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans, Computer literacy, Strong communication skills, Ability to work under pressure, Strong client-centred approach, Good administrative skills, Valid driver’s licence.

Educational Background:
Nursing Diploma or Degree

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification nursing experience, At least one-year experience in a clinical research or implementation science environment is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans

Additional Notes:
Willingness to travel across sites and work flexible hours, including weekends when required. Experience in HIV prevention programmes and long-acting injectable therapies is advantageous.
