Job Description
Job Overview:
Deo Media Limited is a through-the-line creative production and digital agency working across film, television, branded content, publishing, entertainment, fintech, and culture-led campaigns across Africa. We create work that moves people — combining storytelling, strategy, culture, and digital execution to build brands and campaigns with real audience impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the full social content framework across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook. Shape platform-specific strategy across campaign phases — teaser, launch, sustain, and amplification. Write and edit compelling campaign copy including captions, brand stories, partner content, and campaign updates. Manage scheduling and publishing workflows via Hootsuite. Monitor platform trends, audience shifts, and algorithm changes to continuously improve performance. Own the newsletter strategy end-to-end — writing, segmentation, scheduling, and reporting. Build and maintain audience segments across partners, diaspora communities, supporters, and trade audiences. Create newsletter content that sustains momentum between campaign peaks and converts passive audiences into active communities. Track and improve open rates, click-through rates, and list health through ongoing optimisation. Coordinate online PR and earned digital storytelling opportunities. Manage partner amplification and collaborative content rollouts. Monitor media and social conversations around campaigns and DEO brands. Identify cultural moments, internet trends, and emerging conversations the brand can authentically join. Define community tone, engagement principles, moderation standards, and participation guidelines. Direct and oversee the Community & Research Executive. Review user-generated content and resharing decisions. Ensure community engagement across all DEO accounts reflects brand voice accurately and consistently. Collaborate closely with the Paid Media Manager to align organic and paid strategy across accounts. Contribute to client presentations, reporting, and strategic recommendations. Feed audience insights, story opportunities, and content intelligence into wider campaign strategy. Produce clear, insight-led monthly performance reports.

Required Qualifications:
5–8 years in digital strategy, social media, content marketing, or campaign communications. Proven experience leading multi-platform digital strategy across African or diaspora-facing audiences. Exceptional writing ability — from newsletter editorials to short-form social copy. Experience building and growing newsletter channels from the ground up. Deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook beyond execution — including platform behaviour and audience psychology. Experience managing or mentoring junior team members. Comfortable presenting strategic recommendations to clients and stakeholders. Strong understanding of how organic content and paid media work together. Experience in online PR, earned media, or digital storytelling campaigns.

Experience:
5 years

Additional Notes:
Deep understanding of African internet culture and audience nuance. Curious, proactive, and strategically minded. Comfortable working independently within distributed teams. Obsessed with digital culture, platform behaviour, and what makes people engage online. Tools you should know: Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, or equivalent; Mailchimp, Beehiiv, or similar email platforms; Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center, LinkedIn Analytics; Google Analytics; Canva or equivalent creative collaboration tools. Bonus Points: Experience working on viral or participation-led campaigns; Existing creator, media, or influencer relationships across African markets; Additional African language proficiency; Familiarity with SEO fundamentals for digital editorial content.
