Job Overview: The Operations and Maintenance Engineer (OME) is responsible for managing and maintaining deployed distributed solar projects. This includes managing the project through the project lifecycle and working closely with community and project managers, to deliver on projects that align with company vision, meet market needs, and are delivered to a consistently high-quality standard.
Duties and Responsibilities: Daily monitoring and inspection of all sites via digital platforms (Shine phone app, Shine monitor and SteamaCo dashboards). Preventive and corrective maintenance. Coordinate and communicate with OEM vendors for equipment maintenance. Identify problems and develop corrective action plans. Scheduling and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance. Resolve daily system issues escalated on the maintenance WhatsApp group. Travel to project sites and vendor locations as assigned to perform all aspects of on-site installation, repair, maintenance, oversight, and modifications as required. Perform electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and software component inspections, testing, repair, and troubleshooting in accordance with their specifications. Updating of all weekly data sheet and reports from system monitoring, weekly energy generation, off-takers consumption and submitting a weekly report to the System and Operations Supervisor. Record and report all faults, errors, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, along with the time and materials expended. Responsible for all required repairs, maintenance, and monitoring of all systems on site. Monthly visitation of all sites to clean the equipment, observe unauthorized handling of equipment, and possible vandalism.
Required Qualifications: Proficiency in Troubleshooting and problem-solving for solar or electrical systems. Strong Communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Experience in Preventive Maintenance of electrical and solar equipment. Competence in Maintenance Management practices, including scheduling and documentation. Ability to work on-site and adapt to varying environmental conditions. Familiarity with solar energy systems and technology is a plus.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Experience in Preventive Maintenance of electrical and solar equipment.
