Job Overview: The Site Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of construction activities on-site, ensuring projects are executed safely, within the stipulated timeline, according to architectural/structural specifications, and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations on the construction site from groundbreaking to handover. Supervise artisan teams, sub-contractors (masons, plumbers, electricians, etc.), and site labourers to ensure high-quality output. Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings and ensure they are accurately implemented on-site. Request, receive, inspect, and record all construction materials delivered to the site. Monitor material usage strictly to eliminate waste, pilferage, and unauthorized usage. Ensure tools and heavy machinery are properly maintained and secured. Enforce strict adherence to building codes, engineering standards, and company quality benchmarks. Implement and enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies on-site, ensuring all workers wear appropriate PPE. Identify potential structural or logistical issues early and escalate/resolve them proactively. Maintain an accurate daily site log/diary recording work progress, weather conditions, deliveries, and site incidents. Prepare and submit weekly/monthly progress reports to the Project Manager. Track project timelines and milestones to ensure deadlines are met.
Required Qualifications: HND or Bachelor’s degree in Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of 3–5 years of active, hands-on experience as a Site Supervisor in the Nigerian real estate or construction sector. Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprint drawings and technical specifications. Basic knowledge of project management software or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Excellent leadership, firmness, and stamina to manage diverse site laborers and subcontractors. Strong conflict resolution skills. Ability to stand, walk, and navigate rough terrain for extended periods.
