Job Description
Job Overview:
The Fuel Injection Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, testing, and overhauling diesel fuel injection systems used in heavy-duty construction equipment and industrial generator systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Fuel Injection Diagnostics: Diagnose fuel system faults on heavy-duty equipment and generators. Troubleshoot hard starting, engine knocking, excessive smoke, misfiring, fuel starvation, power loss, irregular idling, and poor fuel economy. Conduct fuel pressure and injector performance testing. Identify root causes of fuel contamination and injection failures. 2. Injector Testing & Calibration: Remove, inspect, clean, calibrate, and reinstall injectors. Operate injector testing benches and calibration machines. Conduct nozzle spray pattern analysis. Adjust injector opening pressures to OEM specifications. Replace worn injector components and seals. Verify injector balancing and fuel atomization efficiency. 3. Injection Pump Overhaul: Diagnose and overhaul inline injection pumps, rotary injection pumps, unit injector systems, and common rail high-pressure pumps. Perform pump timing and synchronization. Calibrate pumps according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect pump plungers, delivery valves, governors, and actuators. 4. Electronic Fuel Systems: Diagnose electronically controlled diesel fuel systems. Interpret fault codes using diagnostic software and scanners. Troubleshoot ECU-related fuel issues, fuel sensors, rail pressure sensors, electronic injectors, solenoids, and actuators. Perform fuel system programming and calibration where required. 5. Generator Fuel System Maintenance: Service diesel generator fuel systems. Diagnose generator fuel-related shutdowns and instability. Repair fuel transfer systems and filtration assemblies. Ensure proper fuel supply and combustion efficiency during generator load testing. Support generator overhaul and preventive maintenance activities. 6. Preventive Maintenance: Carry out scheduled fuel system inspections. Replace filters, seals, and worn fuel components. Ensure contamination control procedures are followed. Conduct fuel tank inspections and flushing where required. Monitor injector and pump life cycles. 7. Technical Reporting & Documentation: Prepare diagnostic reports and service findings. Record injector calibration results and fuel system test data. Document replaced parts and overhaul activities. Maintain service history and calibration records. Report recurring fuel system failures and recommendations. 8. Workshop Support: Support engine rebuild teams during overhaul projects. Assist mechanical and electrical technicians during troubleshooting. Maintain fuel injection tools and testing equipment. Mentor junior technicians and apprentices. Ensure workshop safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.
