Job Overview:
A reputable consumer finance organization specializing in simple, accessible lending solutions for SMEs and individuals is hiring a Lead Accountant. The ideal candidate will ensure financial reporting accuracy, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic financial insights to support business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements and management reports. 2. Supervise general ledger activities, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. 3. Manage loan accounting processes, including disbursements, repayments, interest recognition, and portfolio tracking. 4. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT, SCUML, and other relevant obligations. 5. Conduct periodic financial reviews and support internal and external audit processes. 6. Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and account balances. 7. Review statements of account and investigate discrepancies or variances. 8. Manage cheque register processes, including issued, returned, and outstanding cheques. 9. Track loan portfolio performance and provide insights on risks and financial opportunities. 10. Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and relevant stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional certification, such as ICAN or ACCA, is an added advantage.

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

Experience:
Minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within the financial services sector. Proven experience in loan accounting and portfolio management is highly preferred.
