Job Description
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Accountant with a strong background in restaurant or grocery/retail operations to manage the company’s financial activities and support day-to-day operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Reconcile daily sales from POS systems across cash, card, and transfer transactions. Monitor revenue streams from restaurant and retail operations and ensure accuracy of records. Conduct internal audits on cash handling, inventory, and operational processes. Track and analyze inventory movement, cost of goods sold (COGS), wastage, and variances. Support stock counts and ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting. Prepare and process monthly payroll, including statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, etc.). Manage supplier invoices, payments, and account reconciliations. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives. Work closely with operations teams to identify financial leakages, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 2–3 years accounting experience in restaurant, supermarket, or retail environments. Strong understanding of inventory accounting, POS reconciliation, and cost control systems. Experience handling high-volume, cash-driven business operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills. High level of integrity and attention to detail. Professional Certification ICAN (or in view) is a strong advantage. Other relevant accounting certifications are a plus.
