Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Tax Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the company’s tax compliance and financial integrity through accurate reporting and strategic planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and file all statutory tax returns (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.) in accordance with FIRS and State IRS deadlines. Audit daily, weekly, and monthly transactions for tax compliance prior to posting and payment. Maintain accurate tax schedules, reconcile tax ledgers, and ensure proper accounting treatment in the general ledger. Advise management on the tax implications of business transactions and changes in legislation while supporting the Head of Accounts in tax-efficient strategies. Act as the primary liaison for all tax audits and investigations from statutory agencies, preparing all necessary documentation. Develop a tax compliance calendar to eliminate penalties and conduct regular reviews of company operations to identify risk areas.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CITN (Associate or Finalist). Minimum of 4–6 years in tax accounting, with a preference for backgrounds in the retail or FMCG industries. Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws, including FIRS, VAT, PAYE, WHT, CIT, and NITDA levy. High proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Strong analytical thinking, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders effectively.

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Experience:
Minimum of 4–6 years in tax accounting, with a preference for backgrounds in the retail or FMCG industries.
