Job Overview: The Senior Electro Technical Officer (ETO) will manage vessels within the fleet to ensure optimal operation, maintaining electrical and electronic systems onboard, overseeing repairs, and ensuring safe, efficient, and economical performance of vessels.
Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and monitor all maintenance reports for electronic equipment from vessels, verifying abnormalities and escalating to management. Review and improve ship-specific maintenance/testing plans. Conduct periodic inspections onboard vessels to assess conditions of electronics, instrumentation, and alarm systems. Provide onboard familiarization and training for Electricians and Technicians. Plan refits, major repairs, modifications, installations, and surveys while maintaining electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems, including safety equipment. Monitor repair progress of electronics equipment ashore and update management accordingly. Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems onboard, investigate causes of failures, and propose preventive/corrective measures. Assist in monitoring and controlling repair costs.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of HND or equivalent certification in Electrical and Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering. ETO licence is an added advantage. Membership of relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
Educational Background: Minimum of HND or equivalent certification in Electrical and Electronic or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years’ relevant work experience.
Languages: Strong communication skills (oral and written).
Additional Notes: Proficiency in Load Analyses, Short Circuit Analyses, and Protection Coordination Studies. Skilled in interpreting technical/electrical and instrumentation diagrams. Ability to troubleshoot and fault-trace electrical and electronic equipment. Document management and attention to detail. QHSE compliance. Initiative, judgement, and analytical thinking.
