Counselor

Job Overview:
The Chartered Institute of Counseling in Nigeria (CICN) is the first professional institute of its kind in the region, offering a variety of specialized counseling and psychotherapy courses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide professional counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups, employing evidence-based practices such as the Person-Centered Approach. Responsibilities include assessing clients' needs, providing therapeutic support, maintaining confidential records, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in community outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Strong counseling skills, proficiency in active listening, communication, emotional intelligence, and empathy. Organizational and administrative skills for maintaining client records. Commitment to continuous professional development and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (counseling certification from CICN or equivalent is a plus).

Experience:
Experience in clinical or pastoral counseling is an advantage but not required.
