Job Overview: The Finance Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the company, including accounting, reporting, cash-flow control, invoicing, statutory compliance and commercial financial support.
Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements in line with accounting standards. Control, validate, and review all financial entries within the company’s ERP/accounting system, ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation. Perform regular bank, ledger, and account reconciliations to maintain consistency and reliability of financial data. Generate accurate and timely invoices and receipts for services, memberships, events, and products; issue statements of account as required. Actively manage receivables by following up on outstanding payments, flagging overdue accounts, and escalating risks to management promptly. Prepare and submit monthly payroll requests in line with agreed timelines, ensuring accuracy, statutory deductions, and proper documentation. Execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, stock counts (where applicable), and financial reviews. Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts; track performance against budgets and identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting or audit firm. Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ACA (or in progress) is an advantage. Proven experience in a similar accounting role. Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting standards. Strong attention to detail with strict discipline for deadlines. High commercial awareness and strong cash-flow sensitivity. High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently, proactively, and without conflicting engagements. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting or audit firm.
