Job Description
Job Overview:
Vertex Agro Ltd. is leading efforts to implement CarbonSmart Cashew, enhancing sustainability within the Nigerian cashew value chain and supporting smallholder farmers against climatic and economic shocks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver expert technical leadership on climate-related components, support the establishment of Climate-Resilient Cashew Farming Hubs, develop training curricula, lead the Carbon Credit Program, provide technical inputs for climate-relevant equipment, advise on irregularities, collaborate with project partners, and contribute to project reporting.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related field; minimum of 8 years of experience in climate-smart agriculture, carbon accounting, or agroforestry projects; proven experience with carbon credit programmes; excellent report-writing and communication skills.
Educational Background:
Master’s or PhD in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years in climate-smart agriculture, carbon accounting, or agroforestry projects, preferably in West Africa or Nigeria.
Languages:
Fluency in English; working knowledge of local languages (Yoruba, Hausa, Nupe, or Igala) is an advantage.
Additional Notes:
The assignment covers the project duration from March 2026 to November 2026, with a maximum input of 45 working days, primarily field-based in intervention states.
