Job Overview: The Finance and Compliance Officer will ensure the accuracy and completeness of Mercy Corps accounting records and will have primary responsibility for managing the monthly accounting cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities: Daily management of the assistant finance officer, oversee daily cash count, ensure timely remittance of host country taxes, manage month end accounting close process, maintain general ledger software files, review sub journals, prepare revenue recognition entries, oversee daily entries into the system, maintain accounting records, assist in training finance officers, monitor cash and bank balances, assist in audit inquiries, and conduct himself/herself professionally.
Required Qualifications: Degree or HND in accounting is required, two or more years of general ledger accounting experience is required, demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software, advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel, prior management experience, and strong organizational skills.
Educational Background: Degree or HND in accounting is required.
Experience: Two or more years of general ledger accounting experience is required, two years’ experience in the Finance Department of an international NGO is preferred.
Languages: Excellent oral and written English skills.
Additional Notes: The Finance and Compliance Officer must be willing to travel to Mercy Corps field offices and project sites.
