Job Overview: The Hostel Parent will oversee the daily operations and welfare of students residing in the boarding facility, ensuring their safety, discipline, and wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include ensuring the safety, discipline, and wellbeing of all boarders, providing emotional and academic support, maintaining a nurturing and structured environment, and organizing recreational and extracurricular activities. The Hostel Parent will also monitor students’ adherence to schedules, liaise with school staff and parents, and facilitate a positive living experience.
Required Qualifications: Supervisory and leadership skills to effectively manage students and maintain discipline. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. Ability to provide emotional support, guidance, and mentoring to students in a boarding environment. Organizational and problem-solving skills to manage daily operations and handle unexpected situations effectively. First aid training or a willingness to obtain certification is advantageous.
Educational Background: A degree or diploma in education, counseling, social work, or a related field is beneficial.
Experience: Experience working with children or in a residential care setting is preferred.
Languages: English
