Job Overview: The Finance Assistant will assist in adhering to compliance procedures for financial, procurement, and accounting processes, ensuring adequate internal controls are in place and in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements, and Mercy Corps policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Finance Officer to enhance the efficiency of existing control systems, enter transactions into accounting software, prepare monthly payroll related statutory remittances, ensure accuracy of recorded transactions, prepare and upload payroll register, perform AAM review of transactions, prepare amortizations of prepaid expenses, reconcile banks, coordinate with field offices, ensure compliance with GAAPs, assist in mail delivery to banks, ensure timely payments, maintain proper archiving of documents, and support month and year-end processes.
Required Qualifications: Degree or HND in finance, accounting or equivalent is required; two or more years of compliance and finance experience is required; two years’ experience in the compliance Department of an international NGO is preferred; demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software; advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel; excellent oral and written English skills.
