Job Overview: The laboratory scientist acts as a technical product specialist, supporting sales and business development by using deep product knowledge to educate clients, demonstrate solutions, and drive adoption. The role is not bench-focused but centres on translating technical expertise into client value, boosting engagement and revenue growth.
Duties and Responsibilities: Educate customers on the correct use and interpretation of diagnostic products. Develop deep technical knowledge of all company products, including usage, limitations, and advantages. Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and presentations for clients (healthcare professionals, laboratories, and distributors). Support the sales and business development efforts by providing technical expertise during clients’ engagements. Troubleshoot product-related issues for customers and provide a solution. Collaborate closely with the sales team to drive product adoption and market penetration. Assist in validation, field testing, and quality control of products. Gather and document customer feedback and market insights to support product improvement and strategy. Ensure all product-related activities align with quality and regulatory standards. Stay updated on industry trends and competitor products, and advancements in diagnostic technologies.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Science Laboratory technology, or related field. Valid practicing license (e.g., MLSCN). Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a clinical or diagnostic Laboratory. Experience with rapid diagnostic test kits is an added advantage. Prior exposure to sales, training, or customer-facing roles is a strong advantage. Strong understanding of diagnostic products and laboratory principles. Excellent communication skills (ability to teach and explain products clearly). Confidence in presenting and interacting with healthcare professionals. Commercial awareness and interest in sales/business development. Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. Self-driven, proactive, and target-oriented. Ability to simplify technical information for non-technical audiences. Good documentation and reporting skills.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a clinical or diagnostic Laboratory.
