Job Overview: This role owns the management and scaling of engineering teams responsible for delivering production systems across core product and platform functions.
Duties and Responsibilities: Manage a team of software engineers across backend, frontend, QA, or platform functions. Conduct performance reviews, regular 1:1s, and structured team development planning. Support hiring, onboarding, and integration of new engineers into delivery squads. Maintain delivery stability and team cohesion across product iterations and release cycles. Build a culture of collaboration that supports a distributed team and reflects strong engineering values. Recruit, grow, and empower engineers with high expectations around ownership, technical quality, and business impact. Craft a long-term technical strategy with your team, balancing future needs with pragmatic near-term delivery. Be a hands-on technical contributor and mentor. Partner with other Engineering Managers and functional leads to set ambitious goals across the engineering organisation. Own sprint execution across assigned engineering teams. Partner with Product and Design to plan and sequence roadmap delivery. Monitor velocity and surface delivery risks across development cycles. Drive and release readiness across all engineering workstreams. Support capacity planning across engineering squads. Ensure alignment between technical execution and business objectives. Escalate delivery risks proactively and recommend mitigation strategies. Contribute to technical planning and cross-functional prioritisation decisions.
Required Qualifications: 8+ years in software engineering environments. 3+ years managing engineering teams in a production environment. Demonstrated tenure managing the same team or delivery function across multiple years. Experience managing engineers within a structured delivery framework. Demonstrable track record of mentoring engineers and supporting their career growth. Experience recruiting technical talent and building high-performing engineering teams. Experience: 8+ years in software engineering environments, 3+ years managing engineering teams in a production environment.
Additional Notes: Background in fintech, SaaS, or high-availability systems preferred. Experience hiring and mentoring engineering staff at various seniority levels. Experience working in distributed or remote-first engineering teams.
