Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced accountant to oversee the financial health of a private higher school. He / she will be responsible for managing the entire accounting cycle, from tuition collection and payroll to financial reporting and tax compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities: Student Financial Services: Billing, tuition collection, and the management of student accounts/refunds. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. Budgeting & Analysis: Assist the Board of Directors in preparing annual budgets and monitoring departmental spending. Payroll & Benefits: Manage staff payroll, pension contributions, and statutory deductions. Compliance & Audit: Ensure the school meets all local educational and financial regulations. Coordinate with external auditors for the annual fiscal audit. Asset register: Maintain a comprehensive asset register.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Optional but recommended, a partly or fully qualified ICAN is highly preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years in accounting, preferably within an educational setting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or school-specific ERPs) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. High level of integrity, excellent communication skills for dealing with parents/students, and strong analytical thinking.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in accounting, preferably within an educational setting.
