Job Overview:
Union Systems Limited, an enterprise software solutions company, is seeking a highly skilled Mid‑Level Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the performance, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and integrity of databases, which include designing database structures, monitoring system performance, conducting maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data recoverability through regular backups and replication setups that support our enterprise software products and solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) • Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies for efficiency and scalability • Ensure database availability, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness • Perform regular database backups, restorations, and integrity checks • Manage database security, user access, and data protection protocols • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly • Collaborate with developers and IT teams to design and optimize database structures • Implement and maintain database documentation, standards, and procedures • Support data migration, integration, and upgrade activities
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of Second Class Upper • 6 -7 years’ experience as a Database Administrator in an IT environment • Strong hands-on experience with at least one major Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL • Solid understanding of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning • Knowledge of database security • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of Second Class Upper
Experience:
6 -7 years’ experience as a Database Administrator in an IT environment
