Job Overview: The Editor-in-Chief is the senior leader responsible for overseeing the editorial direction, content quality, and publishing strategy of an organization. This role ensures all content aligns with the brand’s voice, standards, and objectives while managing editorial teams and workflows.
Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the overall editorial vision and content strategy, review, edit, and approve content before publication, manage and mentor editors, writers, and contributors, ensure consistency in tone, style, and editorial standards, develop content calendars and oversee deadlines, collaborate with marketing, design, and production teams, monitor industry trends and audience preferences, uphold ethical standards and editorial policies, oversee budgeting and resource allocation for editorial projects, represent the publication or organization in public or media engagements.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field. An advanced degree is a plus, several years of editorial experience, proven leadership or management experience in publishing or media, excellent writing and editing abilities, strong leadership and team management skills, strategic thinking and decision-making, deep understanding of content strategy and audience engagement, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines, familiarity with content management systems (CMS), knowledge of SEO and digital publishing tools, ability to analyze content performance metrics, strong communication and interpersonal skills, project management capabilities, creative and innovative mindset, high level of integrity and professionalism, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, strong problem-solving skills.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
Experience: Several years of editorial experience, proven leadership or management experience in publishing or media.
