Job Overview: The accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial reporting, accounting operations, statutory compliance, budgeting support, and internal financial controls. The role requires a detail-oriented and commercially aware finance professional capable of supporting strategic decision-making within a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain the general ledger and ensure all accounting entries are properly recorded. Reconcile bank accounts, receivables, payables, and intercompany transactions. Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes. Monitor revenue recognition in line with applicable accounting standards. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Analyse financial performance and provide management insights. Monitor cash flow trends and liquidity position. Prepare variance analysis reports and identify cost optimisation opportunities. Ensure timely remittance of taxes, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and company income tax. Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards. Develop and maintain strong accounting controls and financial processes. Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation measures. Monitor expense approvals and adherence to company policies. Oversee payroll accuracy and statutory deductions. Manage vendor reconciliations and payment schedules. Ensure proper documentation of financial transactions. Utilise accounting software and ERP systems effectively. Support automation of accounting and reporting processes. Ensure financial data integrity within company systems.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is preferred. Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience. Prior experience in a software, technology, fintech, or digital services company is an advantage. Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting standards. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Understanding of SaaS/subscription revenue models is an added advantage. Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
